The Peterson Institute is seeking a globally recognized economist with senior policy-making experience to be the first holder of its C. Fred Bergsten Senior Fellowship. The Institute's Board of Directors recently endowed the chair in honor of Dr. Bergsten's 32 years of leadership at PIIE.

S/he will conduct relevant and rigorous research on any of the Institute's main areas of focus: trade and foreign investment, macroeconomics, regional and global integration, and the welfare effects of globalization. The fellow will be expected to communicate independently and often with policymakers and the media, and will report solely to the Institute's President.

Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in Economics or a closely-related discipline with 15+ years of both government and research experience. The individual must have the stature and insight to conduct research and outreach with an impact on public policy.
