Marcus Noland speaking at the University of Hawaii, Oct. 13
If you are planning to be in Hawaii next month:
Dr. Marcus Noland, Vice President and Director of Studies of the Peterson Institute for International Economics, will present the 2015 Seiji Naya Asia-Pacific Lecture on October 13 at 6:30 pm in Auditorium A102 in Shidler College of Business on the UH-Manoa Campus. Parking on upper campus is $6.
Dr. Noland will speak on "North Korea: Sanctions, Inducements and Transitional Paths". Poor, truculent, and repressive, North Korea has confounded predictions of its collapse. Can the regime, now in the third generation of hereditary leadership, continue to manage the internal and external stresses that it confronts? What, if anything, can the outside world do to promote a trajectory that addresses the country’s manifest humanitarian needs, and encourages less repressive behavior internally and less bellicosity externally?
