David Xu has been a research analyst at the Peterson Institute for International Economics since July 2018. He works with Senior Fellow William R. Cline on a range of issues, including exchange rates, sovereign debt, and international financial markets. While studying at Swarthmore College, Xu gained research experience through his joint research project with Professor Tao Wang on the effect of capital control policy on international trade flows. He earned a BA in economics and a BS in engineering from Swarthmore College in May 2018. He is proficient in both Mandarin and Cantonese Chinese.
